Have you ever played Little Alchemy?
The first time I discovered the game on an article, I was curious because of the simplicity of its premise. Little Alchemy can be accessed directly on its website on Google Chrome or by installing the application on the browser. I didn’t know that it was also available on iOS and Android platforms. I went straight to Chrome and tried.
Simple but addictive
Just what I read on the article, Little Alchemy is a very simple application/game. Just as the name suggests, we are supposed to be an alchemist trying to figure out elements that make up all things in the world. To start with, we are given four basic elements: air, water, fire, and earth. With those four essential elements, we are supposed to be able to create hundred other elements. When we succeed, we should be able to see complex ones such as a unicorn or an atom bomb.
How are we supposed to do this? Well, simply by dragging two elements together to combine them. Since there are only four elements to begin with, of course, we should try combining the element with one another to create new elements. Then, we can develop it from other simple things such as rain and dust into a chain of life or a part of the community.
The combination of its simplicity and its fun creates an easy addiction trap. I found myself spending hours to try to complete all the elements as quickly as possible. I took a lot of breaks during my work that day and kept checking in the middle of my evening hangout to complete my list.
It was a short but fun obsession. If you are impatient, you can even try to find little alchemy cheats on the internet. It will really help us when we run out of ideas.
